Elderflower wine, or elderflower tea, is often touted as a superior option for people suffering from arthritis, allergies, or chronic fatigue syndrome.
But its potency is often questioned, with some experts questioning whether the drink is safe for long-term use.
Elderflower tea can also be found in some Chinese herbal medicine products, including Ginkgo biloba, which is used to treat arthritis, and it has been used to cure various types of inflammation, including fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue.
The herbal medicine was originally created as a treatment for epilepsy, but is now being used in conjunction with traditional Chinese medicine to treat several ailments, including arthritis, chronic fatigue, and headaches.
The most commonly prescribed elderflower oil, used as a supplement in Chinese medicine, is called tianyuan, a blend of tea leaves, water, and ginger root, which contains about 100 times the amount of phytosterols found in elderflower and is used as an antioxidant.
Elderflower oil is usually taken in capsule form.
Elderberry oil is an herbal tea made from the berries of the elderberry plant.
The most popular product made from elderberry oil in China is Tianyuan.
“Elderberry tea is used for arthritis, but there’s really no data on whether or not it’s safe,” said Dr. Paul Hsieh, an ophthalmologist and a professor of ophthalmology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City.
According to the World Health Organization, elderberry tea has been shown to be effective in reducing pain in people with multiple sclerosis and in people suffering with rheumatoid arthritis.
A 2016 study in the Journal of Pain found that the consumption of elderberry was associated with a reduction in pain and a reduction of pain intensity in people undergoing surgery.
In a recent study, a team of researchers at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis found that a tea-based product called elderberry honey also significantly reduced the amount and intensity of pain experienced during exercise.
While many older people drink elderflower juice or tea, they are typically more interested in other types of remedies, including herbal remedies, such as acupuncture.
An article published in the American Journal of Physiology by Dr. Jeffrey L. McElroy, an assistant professor of medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, said that the most effective herbal remedies are not usually derived from traditional Chinese herbal medicines, such.
“The use of traditional Chinese medicines is actually not associated with any significant adverse events in the general population,” McElry wrote.
But Dr. William K. Cogley, a professor at the Mount Sinai Department of Ophthalmology, cautioned that elderflower may be the best choice for treating arthritis and fibromyalgias.
Cogley noted that people with fibromyaglia tend to suffer from a variety of conditions and tend to be more susceptible to arthritis and other conditions.
“[W]e know that the use of these remedies can cause a number of side effects, including inflammation, and we think that the risks associated with them are greater than with traditional herbal medicines,” he said.
Other herbal remedies that have been found to be beneficial for fibromygias include chamomile, the chamome, lavender oil, and lemon balm.
If you’re still wondering whether elderflower is the answer to your pain, then try the tea.
